Jesus College Squash Club (JCSC) has an ideal balance between high-standard, competitive matches and opportunities for all standards to participate. The college’s first team ply their trade in the Premier Division, which is the top league that sees teams with university-standard and other quality squash players. Most recently, Jesus finished mid-table to comfortably avoid relegation. JCSC also participates in cuppers, the inter-college knockout competition, where we made it to the semi-final last year only to lose to the eventual champions Somerville.
By contrast, the JCSC 2nd team places emphasis on participation. Consequently, this provides anybody the opportunity to play inter-collegiate matches, whatever their experience or standard. There is also a weekly training session at Jesus’ very own courts, which are little more than a five-minute walk from college. Absolutely anybody is welcome to attend these sessions- to emphasise this the current captain had never picked up a squash racquet before coming to university!
JCSC is an inclusive team that provides oppurtunities for all abilities, whether you’re an experienced player wanting to play competitively, or simply keen to try a new sport.
