Message from a Student

Hi! My name’s Ryan, and I’m a second year History and German student. Even though this means I should only be spending half my time on History stuff (it feels like a lot more than that…), I know how difficult it can be to get used to the demands of studying History at Oxford. It takes a while to adapt to the fact that you have a LOT of time between contact hours—sometimes you can go for literally weeks without seeing your tutors, and you might not hear from them in between tutorials. This means it’s on you to organise your days to make sure you have enough time to read for and write your essays, while balancing it with a social life, other interests and hobbies, and generally trying to live life here to the full!
