Hi, my name is Sophy and I'm one of the second year medics here at Jesus. While medicine can seem like a scary subject to approach, it's also a fascinating subject with some excellent tutors to support you through it when you're feeling overwhelmed. The first 3 years are the pre-clinical years of the medical course where you'll cover the theory and science behind much of what you'll do in the last 3 clinical years. The first 2 years of the pre-clinical course will be spent learning about the major systems of the body while the 3rd year will be spent doing a research project and focusing on 2 particular subjects that interest you. At the end of each year you'll have exams which will be used to assess you and eventually make up your final grade for the first 3 years of the course. You'll have about 2 - 3 tutorials a week with a corresponding number of essays which may sound overwhelming but essay writing soon becomes second nature.
